
Debra Lerner is the CEO at Health and Productivity Sciences, Inc., playing a major role in innovation, evidence-generation, and strategic management. Debra has been a noteworthy leader in the health and productivity improvement space. You may know her from her distinguished career as a scientist in the Program for Health Work and Productivity at Tufts Medical Center, in Boston, MA and as a Professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at Tufts School of Medicine. She can also be credited with contributions to developing evidence-based workplace mental health and well-being programs, questionnaire tools and analytic methods for evaluating health impact on work, including the world-renowned Work Limitations Questionnaire (WLQ), and workplace policies and practices to support employee caregivers. She is also Associate Director of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute of Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University, a large program providing the infrastructure, culture, and vision to accelerate biomedical and clinical discoveries to impact health. Debra has been honored with President’s Award from the Institute for Health and Productivity Management, the Mark Dundon Research Award from the Health Enhancement Research Organization for her contributions to improving employee health and productivity, as well as many research grant awards from the federal, state and industry sponsors. Debra’s impressive research has also been published in several well-known scientific and industry publications, and she has been a popular featured guest speaker and consultant. A self-described grounded, down-to-earth person, Debra is committed to ensuring that her research improves the quality of our everyday lives. Good employment and good health are key to a high quality life. She has spent the last decade creating the Be Well@Work Program to achieve employee-centered care for working people with common mental health problems. She holds a doctoral degree from Boston University, a Master’s of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati and two bachelor’s degrees from SUNY Buffalo. Debra currently resides in the Boston area.
